Here’s to the future!!

I used to think about the future and cringe in fear. Where was it going to take me? Would I be successful? Happy? But after a year of living the lifestyle I’ve always dreamt about, I have found that the future isn’t a scary thing to me anymore, it is now something to look forward to. It is always a great feeling when life just begins “working out” for you and going the exact way you’ve always wanted it to go. I have such a huge belief in Karma and I have recently been struck with a long streak of good karma, not only in my personal life but in my professional career as well.
I graduate from the Aveda Institute of Beauty and Wellness in October of 2013 and realizing how quickly these last two months will fly by, I took every second I could to look for the perfect salon fit for me. At a recent career fair, I had met with some amazing girls from Studio 890 in Elm Grove. I felt an instant connection with the salon as soon as I set foot into it and every single stylist and guest welcomed me into their salon with friendly smiles and sweet greetings. I am so lucky to have been given the opportunity to interview with Studio 890 and guess what?? Good Karma hit me again! I am now looking forward to beginning my fabulous career at the amazing Studio 890!!
The quote “the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams” could not be any more true. Take hold of your amazing dreams and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t achieve them. The sky’s the limit!!
Now onto my incredibly exciting future with Studio 890 and all of the opportunities that they will bring!!

Candy Shaw is a guest educator!

Candy Shaw, a world renowned master of the French cutting technique, educated Aveda IBW about French cutting (working interior to the exterior) and Bolliage coloring today. What a true and talented inspiration Candy is. Candy Shaw is the daughter of Jamison Shaw, America’s first World Champion hairdresser. Candy grew up in the beauty industry and never attended beauty school, but has trained all over Europe and America. Candy has been named one of the most published stylist in North America with hundreds of images appearing in nearly 100 magazines annually and she has been awarded Intercoiffure’s “Award of Excellence” for her outstanding contributions to the organization and was named international “Personality of the Year” in Paris. What a true honor it was to be educated by such a successful and amazing hairdresser. She gave me more inspiration to become successful in the industry, for in the words of Candy herself, “Successful people do what the unsuccessful people don’t.”

Opportunities!

At the Aveda Institute of Beauty and Wellness in Milwaukee, we have the amazing opportunity to work with some wonderful guest educators. We have been graced by the presence of world renown Nicholas French, a three time winner of the North American Hairstylist of the Year award for Avant Guard. I was chosen as one of the top 10 in the school to work hands on with Nicholas French for our Art of Nature fashion show in April 2013. The techniques I learned from him over a span of two days was phenomenal which included creating different Avant Guard pieces for high fashion and runway. What an honor to say that I have worked one on one with such a successful and talented man!

Now a days, more than ever, men are more aware of their style and keeping up with todays trends. “The truth is, the way you present yourself — from your body language and clothing to the style of your haircut — absolutely determines how people treat you,” says Bernardo Carducci, Ph.D., professor of psychology at Indiana University Southeast. So take a look at all of the styles I have created thus far in my career with in hairstyling for men.

Makeup!

Am I the only one who goes makeup shopping and then can’t wait to get home and try it out? “Makeup, Makeup, Makeup!” I have and always will be a lover of makeup; foundation, mascara, eye shadow, eyeliner, and of course that perfect shade of lipstick, it is all AMAZING in my eyes. But what I have always loved focusing on has been the eyes. Your eyes are the windows to your soul, so why not jazz them up a little. Whether you are more of a natural girl or an all-out makeup fanatic like myself, eye makeup is a to-do! And my makeup regime does not rely on the most expensive products either, I pride myself on good quality drug store brands! My all-time favorite products, you ask? Well, let me tell you!

Eye shadow: Coastal Scents 88 color palettes! (http://www.coastalscents.com/) I have multiple of their eye shadow palettes and they have great and fun colors to choose from.

Eyeliner: Line Stiletto Ultimate Precision Liquid Eyeliner by Maybelline (can be found at any drug store) This gives an amazing line and is easily controllable to apply—and clean up if you’re prone to smudges like myself;)

Mascara: They’re Real! By Benefit (I got mine from Sephora) This mascara volumizes, thickens and curls lashes not to mention it won’t smudge, flake off or dry out.

I invite you all to take a look at all of my accomplishments! I am so blessed to have the many wonderful people that have been in my life and I could not have gotten as far as I have without all of your continual support!
